upcoming walk to emmaus events

Anyone over 18 who hasn’t yet participated in a Walk to Emmaus weekend is welcome to attend an Emmaus Walk event. While we encourage attendees to be affiliated with and regularly attend a church, it’s not a requirement. During your walk, you’ll be referred to as a Pilgrim.

Sponsorship plays a key role in a Walk to Emmaus event, supporting the church’s mission to help Christians of all ages grow spiritually and strengthen the body of Christ. A sponsor’s job is to answer questions, be a supportive friend, and offer guidance. They serve as a guide throughout the Emmaus experience and are someone who has completed a Walk to Emmaus weekend and attended a sponsorship class. Sponsors are often found within your church, but if you need help finding one, you can reach out to your minister or send a message for assistance.

We can only take 20 pilgrims on each walk, so it’s important to get your application in quickly with at least a $50 deposit to secure your spot. We ask that applications be submitted at least two weeks before the walk. If spots are available, you may be accepted; if not, you’ll be placed on the waiting list for the next walk.

The total cost to attend a Walk to Emmaus weekend event is $165, which covers your room, meals, and a t-shirt. A $50 deposit is required with your registration to reserve your spot, as space is limited to 20 participants. Scholarships are available for those who may need financial assistance, so let your sponsor know if the fee is a concern.

You should bring items you would take on any kind of an overnight stay. You will need: clothing, toiletries, medications, towel, wash cloth, bedding for a twin-size bed or sleeping bag, pillow, flashlight, coat for cool or rainy weather, comfortable shoes. Please DO NOT bring a cellphone, watch or any kind of electronic devices.

Each month we gather together as a community of believers and worship followed by breaking bread together. These gatherings are held on the 4th Sunday of each month at The Plains UM Church, 3 N Plains Rd, The Plains, OH 45780.
